A 30-year-old Patterson man was arrested Monday afternoon, June 7, after police said he deliberately swerved his pickup in an attempt to hit several pedestrians, including a wheelchair-bound preacher.

Police arrested Preston Hall on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon just before 4 p.m. on the 400 block of Henley Parkway.

Also arrested at the same time was 45-year-old Alex Gibson of Patterson, who police say attacked Hall and his vehicle with a 4-foot club.

As of press time, police were unable to confirm whether Gibson was among the group of people Hall drove toward, nor did police suggest any motive for Hall’s behavior.

The police log for June 10th with regards to a wheel chair bound preacher is totally incorrect. The person in the so called "wheel chair" is in no way a preacher but a con man and an ex-convict from Pelican Bay who has been nothing but a serious problem in this Henley Parkway neighborhood for the last 2 years. He rides on a mobility scooter, not a wheel chair and there is much more to this story than what the press knows or has written. Please get your information straight.
