Patterson Irrigator

The Patterson Irrigator has welcomed new sports writer Erick Torres to the staff.

Erick has lived in Patterson for more than 24 years and is a graduate of Patterson High

School class of 2007.

Since graduation, Erick has been busy working and going to school part-time. He eventually wants to complete his studies in English, and continue his aspirations as a writer.

At the newspaper, Erick will cover the community he grew up playing sports and going to school in. As a sports writer Erick will be writing about local games and highlighting young athletic talent.

Erick is very excited at the opportunity to begin a career as a writer, and hopes to highlight the achievements of athletes in the community of all ages and sports.

He takes over the job from Marc Aceves, who covered sports for the Patterson Irrigator for more than six years.

Copy editor and reporter Nathan Duckworth is the newest addition to the staff.

Nathan resides in Modesto. He has lived in the Central Valley his whole life but is new to Patterson.

Nathan began his journalism career at California State University, Stanislaus’s campus newspaper, The Signal, where he worked as a writer, copy editor and Arts & Entertainment editor. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in English literature and has been reading and writing for as long as he can remember. He plans to continue his education and work towards a Master’s in literature or journalism.

At the Irrigator, Nathan hopes to learn everything he can about Patterson through his reporting, utilize his eye for grammar and get his hands in all aspects of the paper.
