Crows Landing Pentecost to celebrate 100 years in service

The 100th anniversary of the Crows Landing Pentecost will be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 30, 31 and June 1 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the Crows Landing Pentecost Hall, both in Crows Landing.

- Friday events include a 7 p.m. recitation of the rosary followed by an 8 p.m. variety show “Remembering Portugal,” featuring the group “Amigos na Saudade” with selections of Portuguese and Brazilian music.

- On Saturday, a parade of cows and oxcarts or “Bodo de Leite” will begin at 10:30 a.m. Then, at 1 p.m. an auction will take place followed by a 2:30 p.m. Cacoilha lunch. The 7 p.m. recitation of the rosary will be followed — from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.— by dancing to the music of Jorge Silva of Tauuton, MA and Carmencia of Turlock. The queens and committee will be presented at 9 a.m.

- Sunday’s schedule will begin at 10 a.m. with the formation of the parade at the Crows Landing Pentecost Hall. An 11 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church led Father Luis Cordeiro. Accompaning the Mass is the Portuguese Choir of the Shrine of Our Lady Of Miracles in Gustine. Sopas will be served to everyone present afterwards. At 1:30 p.m. an auction of gifts will be conducted. Dancing to the music of Gilberto Amaral will take place from 8 p.m. to 12 midnight. The presentation of the queens and committee will be at 9 p.m.
