Despite missing one part of their No. 3 doubles tandem, the Tigers won four of their six singles matches and one of three doubles matches in the narrow defeat over the Central Valley Hawks.
The conference win was sweet for Patterson (6-3 WAC), which battles on despite an injury depleted roster. According to Patterson coach Raustand Nzoule, finishing each match was the key.
At No. 1 singles, the Tigers gained a 6-1, 6-1 win, with Kelby Norfleet of Patterson defeating Emeley Amaya of Central Valley.
Patterson’s Kendall Norfleet bested Central Valley's Naomi Torres, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.
Teammate Avery Chairez followed with a straight-set win over Jadah Jackson, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Keanna Garza of Patterson earned a No. 5 singles victory over Sandra Luna of Central Valley in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Patterson’s No. 1 doubles team, Antonia Perez and Arianna Rico, opened up doubles play by defeating Claudia Martinez and Celeste Lepe, 6-3, 6-3.
Although the Tigers didn't manage to win a set, Nzoule was pleased with the effort his team displayed against Los Banos.
