Two more suspects have been arrested and booked at the Stanislaus County Jail stemming from a kidnapping case that occurred, Saturday June 15.

Patterson Police deputies located and arrested Adan Esquivel, 22, of Patterson while Modesto Police arrested Arturo Martinez, 20, of Modesto Wednesday, June 19.

Deputies are recommending charges of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, robbery, and participation in gang activity. Martinez also faces a charge of being in possession of brass knuckles.

Jonathan Figueroa, 22, of Modesto was identified and arrested Saturday, June 15 on a variety of criminal charges, including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and participation in gang activity and criminal activity, according to Christianson. All three are being held on $1 million bail at the Stanislaus County Jail.

Victor “Cuate” Sandoval, 21 of Patterson, is wanted on suspicion of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, conspiracy by a person involved in gang activity and criminal gang activity.

At roughly 9:45 p.m., Saturday, June 15, deputies responded to the report of a victim being held for ransom against his will.

The victim was kidnapped from his home in “rural Stanislaus County,” according to Christianson.

The 911 caller said the suspects wanted $800 for the victim’s release.

An investigation into the incident took several hours to complete and subsequently led detectives to the 600 block of Spooner Court in Patterson, just two blocks from a park where Miguel “Big Mike” Ramirez was fatally shot Thursday, June 13. Christianson said there is no connection between the incidents. Both, however, are believed to be gang related.

At one point during the investigation, the victim was able to leave the location where he was held hostage. Deputies and detectives took the victim into protective custody without jeopardy.

Investigators surrounded the residence until several suspects emerged, including Jonathan Figueroa, 22, of Modesto. Firgueroa was identified and arrested on a variety of criminal charges, including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and conspiracy by a person involved in gang activity and criminal activity, according to Christianson. Figueroa is being held on $100,000 bail at the Stanislaus County Jail.

Three suspects have also been identified as members of a criminal street gang, and are wanted. Police consider the 3 suspects to be armed and dangerous. Victor “Cuate” Sandoval, 21 of Patterson, Arturo “Rascal” Martinez, 20, of Modesto and Adan “Burner” Esquivel, 22 of Patterson are wanted for armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, conspiracy by a person involved in gang activity and criminal gang activity.

Police consider Martinez easily identifiable due to a missing right eye, which he received after being shot in the head last December near Alex & Sons Market in Modesto.

The victim sustained minor injuries during the kidnapping. His name is being withheld pending further investigation. It is unclear at this time if the victim and suspect shared a relationship prior to the investigation.
