Patterson High honored its winter sports athletes at a banquet inside the school’s cafeteria on Wednesday night.

Boys basketball

Senior Felix Mapanda was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and co-captain along with Imani Brown.

Mapanda is the first Patterson High athlete to be nominated as a McDonald’s All-American. He and Kent Foster were also voted to the Western Athletic Conference’s All-League first team.

Teammate Emmanuel Brooks was honored as the Tigers’ Best Defensive Player, while Foster came away with awards for Best Offensive Player and the WAC’s Most Outstanding Player.

Patterson senior Chris Tafoa earned the Most Improved Player award.

Junior varsity

Granville Runderson earned Best Offensive Player honors. Teammate Frankie Sanchez took home Best Defensive Player honors.

Runderson and Cody Weinzheimer were named team captains.

Freshmen

The Tiger Award went to Brian Lemon.

Zach Dinu and Austin Pressley came away with team captain honors.

Girls basketball

For the second straight season, Cassie Coble was named the Most Valuable Player of both the Tigers and the WAC.

Most Valuable Defensive Player honors went to Amber Bond, and the Coach’s Award was given to senior Rebecca Hinojos.

Junior Adriana Ruiz was named the team’s Most Improved Player.

Hinojos, Coble and Linsey Moeller were named team captains.

Coble, Hinojos and Bond were each named to the WAC’s All-League first team.

Junior varsity

Sierra Valentine earned Most Valuble Player honors.

Jeune Shelton and Valentine shared duties as co-captains.

Brianna Gil was named the Most Improved Player.

Freshmen

Dani Hansen came away with Most Valuable Player honors.

Emily Yin was named team captain.

Wrestling

Senior Nelson Rangel and junior George Miranda were voted the team’s captains, and Rangel was named the team’s Most Valuable Wrestler.

Most Improved Wrestler honors went to senior Adrian Rodriguez.

Teammate Ricky Howard took home the Coach’s Award, and D.J. Cota came away with the Coach Worley Award.

Junior varsity

Joe Melo was named the Most Valuable Wrestler.

Sam Melo was named Most Improved Wrestler. The Coach’s Award was given to Blaine Christiansen.

Carlos Ramirez, Meagan Valentine and Zach Whitney took home team captain honors.

Cheerleading

The Tiger Pride Award went to Stefanie Mota.

Dancing Diva honors were handed to Sam Pansoy, and the Savvy Stunter Award went to Taylor Mitchell.

Crissy Jara and Alex Halland were voted the team’s co-captains.

Junior varsity

Jammin’ Jumper honors went to Krissy Debler. The Dancing Diva Award went to Yvonne Gomez.

Adrianna Becerra and Daniella Hernandez were named team co-captains.
