Ron Swift, publisher emeritus of the Patterson Irrigator, was honored Sunday, March 24, at Masonic Hall with a 50-year pin from Patterson Masonic Lodge No. 488, F&AM.

Kevin Nelson, past worshipful master of the local lodge, was master of ceremonies as more than 60 people gathered to witness the event.

Swift was editor and publisher of the Patterson Irrigator newspaper from 1962 to his retirement in May 2003. He still writes a weekly column, “Fast Talk,” for the paper.

Swift has lived in Patterson since 1962, when he and partner Ed Sternberg purchased the Patterson Irrigator.

His wife, Kay Swift, presented him with the Masonic 50-year pin.

The Swifts have three children, Mike Swift of San Luis Obispo and twins Beth Reyna and Ben Swift, both of Patterson. Two grandsons, Jason Reyna and Vincent Swift, also live in Patterson.
