Volleyball wraps with two wins
Freshman Paige Olivo was chosen as the California Pacific Conference Volleyball player for the week of Nov. 3 for her role in the Bruins’ two conference wins to end the season.
Olivo had two kills, 70 assists and 19 digs as the Bruins finished their season with home wins over Simpson University (5-16, 25-22, 25-19) and Williams Jessup University (25-16, 25-14, 25-16).
The Bruins finished 7-7 in the Cal Pac and 8-15 overall.
Runners advance to nationals
Freshmen cross country runners Mike Stuart and Faith Hall advanced to the NAIA national championships Nov. 22 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside with strong performances at the Cal Pac championships.
Stuart finished fifth in the conference and became the first Bethany male athlete to qualify for a national competition.
Hall finished 11th in the Cal Pac and qualified for the national meet with the final at-large bid from the conference.
“To qualify for nationals was definitely a nice surprise for both of them,” coach Jim Meyer said.
The Bethany men finished fourth out of eight, and the women finished fifth out of eight in the Cal Pac in the school’s first year with a cross country program.
Soccer caps season with losses
After a 3-2 victory over Pacific Union College, the Bethany men’s soccer team finished the season on a three-game losing streak. The Bruins finished 3-10-1 in the Cal Pac and 3-12-1 overall.
