EDITOR,

I would encourage you to support Brian Sanford to continue his tenure on the Santa Cruz County Board of Education.

Sanford has proven his capabilities by representing our schools in several different occasions during the past 10 years. He has been a strong supporter in San Lorenzo Valley’s Charter Program, has served as president of the SLV High School site council, and stepped forward in our district’s most painful period to facilitate the Superintendent School Closure Committee.

In this uncertain climate, it is important to have someone on the county board who understands our district and will make sure our interests are represented fairly. Serving on a school board is a very important position, with so many decisions affecting so many community members — we must make the right decision by electing someone with a proven commitment to our students.

Please join me by electing appointee Brian Sanford to a full four-year term.

Lea Dakota, San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees president
