In a change of heart, Brookdale Inn and Spa is restoring its iconic larger-than-life mural of James Dean facing Highway 9. Here, worker Robert Hernandez painstakingly removes the tan paint that was recently applied. Owner Sanjiv Kakkar said he had planned to have a new James Dean-Marilyn Monroe mural commissioned, but he relented when San Lorenzo Valley residents said they preferred the original mural.
