The Boulder Creek Recreation and Parks District once again has a full board of directors.

Kevin Perry, who lives on Junction Avenue near Junction and Dam parks with his family of four, joined the board Wednesday, Nov. 7, amid welcoming comments from board members, who voted 3-0 to appoint him. Director Paul Storm left the meeting before the vote.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have a person from the town core representing all the others from the town core on the board,” said chairwoman Tess Fitzgerald. “It’s a long time coming.”

Perry, an electrician, is a graduate of Santa Cruz High School who moved with his wife, Jennifer, to Boulder Creek five years ago.

The Perrys have two boys, a 7-year-old and a 5-month-old.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I moved here,” said Perry, who views the position as an opportunity to improve the parks and programs to benefit his and other children as they grow up in Boulder Creek.

Perry helped with the cleanup of Junction Park earlier this year, when residents ousted vagrants and homeless people.

Perry was the only applicant for the position, which has been vacant since the Oct. 10 resignation of Becky Martin. Martin’s was the fourth resignation from the board in the past two years.
