In response to the “I don’t speak Spanish” complaint by Ms. Wilson, she is exaggerating and unfairly scapegoating Spanish-speaking and bilingual (English-Spanish) people for her lack of luck finding a job in Patterson (“No, I don’t speak Spanish,” Your Voice, Page 11, Feb. 7).
The fact is that this is a small town and jobs are scarce for everybody, including bilingual and non-bilingual people — hence the reason why so many bilingual and non-bilingual people commute.
Instead of being so bitter, I suggest Ms. Wilson take advantage of her sign-language skills and seek employment where there is a market for it.
The fact that there is no market for it in Patterson is not the Latinos’ fault.
