I applaud her survival at the hands of an abuser and her final escape. Anyone who can manage to do that in a world of violence with five children can do anything.
If at the end of her term she proves herself unworthy of re-election, Patterson voters will determine that. The votes have been counted. Let the councilwoman do her job as per the election results. To do otherwise would look too much like “sour grapes.”
Having all facets of her life in the public eye should only enhance her performance on the council. Personally, I am grateful that she understands the plight of many women and children in this community and that when it comes to making decisions, she has a real humane element to add, unlike her predecessor, Annette Smith, who only took from her position.
