Rotary donates points to Las Palmas School

Patterson Rotary Club donated the points members earned from Save Mart Supermarkets’ Apples for Students program to Las Palmas Elementary School.

Rotarians collected more than $16,000 in register receipts during the Apples for Students program, which ran from August 2008 to Jan. 24 and earned 165 points. Rotarians presented those points to Las Palmas staff at the Jan. 28 meeting.

The 165 points from the Rotary Club were added to the 1,000 points Las Palmas families earned by turning in more than $100,000 in Save Mart receipts.

Save Mart Supermarkets will donate more than a million dollars to the Apples for Students program, and schools can use points for merchandise such as books, computers and monitors through a special Save Mart awards catalog.
