Loose dogs are a danger

EDITOR,

In recent months, I have been followed or chased by loose pit bulls both in old-town Patterson and in the Heartland Ranch area while walking my 10-year-old Labrador on a leash. On Saturday, March 3, my dog was attacked by a pit bull on the corner of Osprey and American Eagle drives. Had the owner of the pit bull not called his loose dog off of mine, I’m sure my dog would have been killed. My dog is limping badly and nursing multiple puncture wounds to her hips and neck.

I know there are many families with young children residing in the area where my dog was attacked. It is my sincere request that the owners of vicious dogs keep them contained and not in areas where innocent children or dogs on leashes are subject to brutal attacks.

Kristi Perez, Patterson
