The move from Highway 33 and Ward Avenue to the center’s new quarters in the Keystone Pacific Business Park is on hold until January. The Del Puerto Health Care District Board of Directors had hoped the grand opening would be this month and announced the tentative date at the October board meeting.
“We’ve had a few minor constriction delays, and we’re waiting for approval from the state department of health care services,” Chad Vargas, the district’s CEO, said Monday, Nov. 21. “We’re hoping for mid-January, which gives us enough time to get everything ready.”
Meanwhile, the clinic continues to serve patients from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
The new building will have 11,000 square feet of space for the health center’s staff and are seeking new specialists in the areas of orthopedics, kidney dialysis and dermatology to add to medical services. The building remodel was financed by a $2.1 million loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Division and has been in the works since March.
Del Puerto Health Care District replaced the Del Puerto Hospital board after the hospital closed in spring 1998. The district’s health care center started in downtown Patterson in June 2003 and a few years later moved to the building at Highway 33 and Ward Avenue. The health care district also runs Patterson District Ambulance Co.
