With help from Patterson High alumna Bethany Jackson, Team USA reclaimed the title of world champion during the 2011 International Cheer Union World Championship on April 30 at HP Field House in Orlando, Fla.

Jackson — a member of the United States’ national coed squad, and the only team selection hailing from California — helped her country secure gold at the event, which is considered the highest level of competition in cheerleading.

The competition brought together the largest gathering of international cheerleading groups ever assembled for competition. National teams representing more than 60 countries competed for the title last month.

A 2008 Patterson High graduate, Jackson is also a third-year member of the large coed cheer team at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and a three-time collegiate All-American.
