Two others who had been in the stolen vehicle were still at large as of 10:30 p.m.
Police initially spotted the car at Rogers and Zacharias roads after the people inside the vehicle had been allegedly involved in a beer run at the Union 76 station at Sperry Avenue and Rogers Road, according to police at the scene.
A vehicle pursuit ensued, as the suspects in the Honda took Zacharias Road to Highway 33 and then headed south, according to Deputy Randall Watkins of Patterson Police Services. That pursuit went through some fields and ended on the 600 block of Ward Avenue, where suspects abandoned the vehicle.
The 18-year-old, a former Patterson resident who was unnamed at the scene, threw a gun he was holding shortly after exiting the vehicle, according to police.
Police caught the girl just east of the Patterson Place Apartments complex, and they apprehended the 18-year-old inside a laundry room with the help of a K-9, Watkins said.
Authorities used a sheriff's helicopter to try to track down the other suspects, but it eventually had to leave the area to refuel, Watkins said.
Coincidentally, as the foot pursuit unfolded, a female resident on nearby Barros Street approached police and proclaimed she was the owner of the stolen Honda, Watkins said.
