We would like our fellow citizens who voted “yes” on Measure T in June to be aware of your powers. Your votes immeasurably helped to save our Stanislaus County Library system, including especially our Patterson branch.
For your information and to congratulate your efforts, Patterson was No. 1 in the county in the percentage of yes votes. By law, Measure T required a two-thirds yes vote (66.7 percent) to be passed, and countywide, the measure was passed by an 81.8 percent positive vote. So, very, very good!
As to a partial breakdown, the rural and unincorporated areas of our county passed the measure with 77.6 percent support. For instance, Hughson had 78.6 percent, Oakdale had 79 percent and Riverbank had 79.4 percent.
The runners-up to our town were Turlock (82.7 percent), Newman (83.4 percent) and Modesto (84.3 percent).
But Patterson was easily the overall champ, passing Measure T by a whopping 86.5 percent yes vote.
On behalf of the Friends of the Patterson Branch Library group and the Yes on T Subcommittee of the Friends, we applaud your efforts and voting determination and say “job well done!”
