That’s right, 10 pounds. I’m not lighting the world or even myself on fire, but I’ve made some progress. That’s the equivalent of a light bowling ball being taken off my body.
On May 29, I joined the Westside Biggest Loser Contest sponsored by Parreira Insurance of Gustine. Folks from all over the West Side, including Patterson, took part. Each Tuesday, we weigh in to see who has lost the most by body weight percentage. The last weigh-in was Tuesday, Aug. 7.
And what have I done to accomplish since then, you might ask?
I’ve done a little bit of treadmill cardio work, 30 minutes three to four times a week. Most importantly, I’ve gotten healthier with my diet.
The loss has been noticeable to me. My pants are looser. I have a little more energy, too, and I’m able to keep up with my kids better — all pluses.
The minus from my last column: Nobody is calling me “big guy” anymore, but they are constantly saying how they notice that I’ve lost weight. It’s only 10 pounds, people. The pendulum has swung the other way, and now everyone is going overboard to compliment me.
We are done with our 10 weeks of weight loss, but the next is right around the corner with the Stanislaus County Biggest Loser contest, which involves teams. You guessed it: I’m on Patterson Health and Fitness’ crew.
So let me say this: I’d like to send out a special thanks to Parreira Insurance in Gustine for their support in the individual Biggest Loser event that is wrapping up.
It was really nice to have all of the folks who read my column come up to me around town and give me words of encouragement. Thank you — but keep it coming, because it only gets harder from here. I’m going to need all the encouragement I can get.
