Around Town: KUDOS Reyna honored in Scout ceremony Local Boy Scout leader Jaime Reyna was honored at a Woodbadge Beading ceremony Jan. 24 at Boy Scout Troop 81’s annual parent potluck at the Federated Methodist-Presbyterian Church. Woodbadge participants work in teams of eight patrols that are named for animals. Reyna, who took the six-day course in 2006, was in the Antelope Patrol. Patrol members work together to learn skills such as communication, leadership and decision-making. They work on classroom and outdoor events and put together a project, also known as a “ticket.” Reyna received a neckerchief and beads from retired Scoutmaster Ron Swift during last week’s ceremony, as Paul Waddell, woodbadge course director, explained the significance of the award. Reyna also received a Woodbadge certificate in recognition of completing the scouting training program. Reyna, who has been in Scouting for 11 years, served as an assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 81 for 10 years. He is now Cubmaster of Pack 79 in Grayson, where he grew up. Reyna founded the pack as part of the Woodbadge program. Robert Baden-Powell, founder of Boy Scouting, created the Woodbadge program in 1919.
