Patterson Police Services arrested a Tracy man Tuesday on suspicion of robbing a Patterson store at gunpoint that night.

Andrew Senft, 22, of Tracy, also matches witness descriptions of a man who robbed two Patterson stores last week.

Police arrested Senft at about 10:30 p.m. on suspicion of using a gun to steal cash from Patterson Mini Mart, 511 S. Second St. A deputy found him in the area shortly after receiving reports of the robbery.

Police already were looking for Senft, because he had been seen around another Patterson business that had been robbed, though police had not made it public that they had a specific person of interest. The truck Senft was driving also matched a description of a vehicle involved in past robberies.

Senft has not been charged with two other robberies — one at Carl’s Jr. on Jan. 8 and the other at John’s Mini Mart on Jan. 10. Police were still investigating whether there was a connection as of press time.

Police are holding Senft in Stanislaus County Jail in Modesto on $200,000 bail.

At the time of the robberies, Senft was out on bail for unknown charges in Alameda County, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s spokesman Royjindar Singh said.

A deputy spotted Senft driving alone and stopped him Tuesday evening. The deputy found a handgun and about as much cash as had been reported stolen from the mini mart.

Though Senft’s current address is listed in Tracy, Detective Michael Fisher of Patterson Police Services said he used to live in Patterson, and police are familiar with him.

Earlier this week, police went to a local business to tell people to be careful and report anything suspicious because of the two robberies last week. They also contacted the media to put out the word that they were looking for suspects.

But before word could spread very far, deputies had Senft in custody.

“We got him, we got him,” said Patterson police Chief Tyrone Spencer on Tuesday night after being informed of the arrest.

In the first robbery earlier this month, employees at Carl’s Jr. on the 15000 block of Rogers Road reported that a man whose face was concealed by a bandana had walked up to the drive-through window, brandished a gun and demanded money.

Employees at John’s Mini Mart, 320 N. Second St., reported a similar incident.

None of the people involved reported any injuries.
