Keith Yamamoto can add another accolade to an already extensive list of postseason awards. The senior linebacker has been named to the CalHiSports.com Small Schools First-Team All-State squad. Yamamoto, who has yet to declare his collegiate intentions but is reportedly leaning toward UC Davis, was a two-way starter for the Tigers. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound linebacker was an instrumental force in Patterson’s Cinderella season, a campaign that saw the Tigers secure its highest win total in school history under fifth-year coach Rob Cozart. Yamamoto excelled in Patterson’s date with destiny, its first section championship berth since the modern playoff format was introduced in 1976, scoring the Tigers’ only touchdown in a 24-6 loss to Central Catholic. He finished the season with 589 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Yamamoto, the son of Bobby and Karen Yamamoto, was an All-League linebacker and team captain. He even donned the headset on the sidelines as an assistant coach during one Western Athletic Conference game this past season. Previously, Yamamoto was selected to CalHiSports.com’s preseason All-Sac-Joaquin Section football team.
