Rodas is wanted on suspicion of attempting to murder his girlfriend’s 39-year-old mother. He is also wanted in Merced County on suspicion of trying to kill someone in January 2007.

According to sheriff’s spokesman Royjindar Singh, Rodas was arguing with his girlfriend in front of her house on the 15000 block of Carpenter Road at about 6 p.m. Dec. 14 when her mother confronted him. Police believe Rodas then took out a large knife and attacked the mother.

She ran, deputies say, but he chased her and stabbed her several times before fleeing. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, and it appears she will survive,Singh said.

The sheriff’s department searched for him with a helicopter for about two hours, but could not find him. Now, the detectives hope someone will tell them where Rodas is staying.

Detectives say Rodas is a Latino man with brown eyes and black hair, who stands 5-foot-6 and weighs 140 pounds. He has worked at several local dairies.

Anyone with information is asked contact the department at 521-4636.
