Patterson Little League signups ongoing
Signups are open and under way for the newly formed Patterson Little League youth baseball and softball program.

The Patterson County travel baseball team and Patterson Parks and Recreation Department baseball have merged into Little League, with league play starting in April.

Little League will offer T-ball for ages 5 to 7, boys baseball and girls softball in the minor division for ages 8 to 10, boys baseball and girls softball in the majors division for ages 11 to 12, and boys baseball and girls softball for ages 13 to 15.

The new Little League will be open to residents of Patterson, Westley, Grayson, Crows Landing and Vernalis.

Youth basketball signups set
Registration for Junior National Basketball Association and Junior Women’s National Basketball Association recreational youth basketball starts Saturday.

The recreational program, sponsored by Patterson Parks and Recreation Department, is designed to acquaint young people with basketball fundamentals.

The program also will focus on sportsmanship and skill development. Volunteer coaches and team parents are welcome.

Priority online registration will be Saturday through Jan. 2. Regular registration follows from Jan. 3 to 18. Registration fee is $45.

Patterson’s Lawrence selected for All-Star game
Patterson resident Matt Lawrence, a senior at Central Catholic High School in Modesto, has been selected to play in Saturday’s KCRA Channel 3 Holiday Classic football game at Stagg High School in Stockton.

Lawrence will be joined by five Central football teammates: Louis Bland, Alex Young, Clay DePauw, Shon Martin and Max Nelson. He will play on the South squad.

Lawrence was a defensive lineman on Central Catholic’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship team, which finished the season 11-2 and was the runner-up in the state Division III title game.

He is the son of Richard and Nancy Lawrence of Patterson.
