Foreclosure proceedings loom for Patterson’s drug rehab center, but its owner remains optimistic. Troy Dorman, owner of The Living Center, 821 E St., said he’s been through this before, and there are no plans to change the daily operations of the center. Still, he said The Living Center could be in store for major changes regardless of the foreclosure’s outcome. Dorman said this is the fourth time the foreclosure process has been started on the facility. Along with running The Living Center, Dorman said he owns the surrounding land. In the past, he’s said he has wanted to sell the land but has turned down offers that would not allow him to keep the rehab center operating. He suggested by phone this week that that might change. “Regardless of the treatment center, we’re going to become way more aggressive in marketing this place,” Dorman said. The center provides live-in drug rehabilitation services and is licensed to house about three-dozen people. Dorman said the number of people enrolling in the program has been down recently, leading to leaner financial times. The last time the center faced a shutdown was in February, when the city building department cited the facility with several violations. At one point, center workers were told they only had a few hours to move patients before the city shut the facility down. However, the city backed off on the demand, and eventually the center met the requirements. “Over the years, we’ve fought hard to keep this place,” Dorman said.
