Follow the Leaders It is now official, voters overwhelmingly supported the familiar faces on the local school board ballot. The leading newcomer, Violet Wells, lagged 3 percentage points behind the trailing incumbent, Gilbert Lujan. ![]() Pi Photo File With 3,333 total ballots tabulated, incumbent Bobby Yamamoto led the way with 22.83 percent of the vote, followed by Bruce Kelly with 19.05 percent, Barbara Hartsell with 16.62 percent and Gilbert Lujan with 13.17 percent. Westside Community Alliance community developer Violet Wells led the way among the newcomers with 10.38 percent, followed by child welfare analyst Cerise Cameron-Grice with 9.15 percent and at-home mom Sonja Gunderson with 8.7 percent. Full results will be available in Saturday’s edition of the Irrigator.
