The city of Patterson may be closer to expanding its wastewater treatment plant after the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors approved a $706,000 loan from its economic development bank on Tuesday.
The board approved the money as part of a list of items routinely approved by a public body.
Money from the loan will be used to pay for design studies, estimated to cost about $897,000, associated with the treatment plant’s expansion. The expansion is needed to provide sewer capacity for further development in the 817-acre West Patterson Business Park, which includes the 224-acre Keystone Pacific Business Park.
The county also approved an $889,000 loan from the economic development bank Tuesday for a traffic signal at West Main Street and Fransil Lane in Turlock.
The economic bank has awarded $1.5 million annually since it was set up in February 2001.
The city of Patterson proposed to begin repaying its no-interest loan to the bank five years after issuing loan funds, and will pay $100,000 per year until it is paid off. However, city officials say they hope to pay it off sooner.
