It’s official.
Local telecommunications service provider Global Valley Networks sold to Citizens Communications Co. on Thursday.
The name of the local phone company, which started out as Evans Telephone Co., is changing to Frontier Communications Solutions, the brand name Citizens uses for all its markets.
Maggie Wilderotter, CEO of Citizens Communications, announced her company was excited about the acquisition this week, saying it “offers opportunities for revenue growth and synergies.”
Delaware-based Citizens acquired Global Valley Networks and GVN Services by buying all of Evans Telephone Holdings’ outstanding common stock from New Jersey-based Country Road Communications. Citizens spent $62 million to close the deal.
The acquired markets will be combined with the Citizens Communications West Region operations.
Global Valley’s vice president of operations, Bruce Holdridge, is the new manager of Frontier’s Patterson and Livingston areas.
Frontier already serves several areas in California, such as Burney and Alturas in northeastern California, Palo Cedro near Reddin, Needles on the Arizona border and Elk Grove. Now, it has added Global Valley Networks’ service areas: Patterson, Westley, Grayson, San Antonio Valley, Livingston, Cressey and Capay Valley.
The company serves about 2.5 million access lines and 464,000 high-speed Internet subscribers in 24 states, and it has more than 6,000 employees. It focuses on acquiring companies in rural and suburban areas.
The company plans to add some new services in the early part of next year. Meanwhile, it will host a Patterson-Westley Chamber of Commerce mixer from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday to help introduce the company.
Frontier’s Patterson office is at 515 Keystone Blvd. in the building formerly used as Global Valley Networks’ headquarters.
