50-Plus, MOMS and FFA

50-Plus meeting planned in Newman  
Orestimba 50-Plus Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday at L.J. Newman Hall, 649 Orestimba Road,
in Newman.

Mary Gonzalez, Thelma Hansen, Marlene Terry and June Spaulding will provide refreshments.

At the Oct. 19 meeting, president Kent Madenwald thanked Frank and Isabel Borelli of Gustine for a spaghetti dinner they prepared for that meeting. Guests Vivian Garcia and Rosetta de la Torre were welcomed. Sunshine chairwoman Lorraine Bettencourt reported sending a birthday card to Estelle Macias and sympathy cards to Linda Beffa, Celeste Mason and the family of Adele Rosa.

Nadine Mutoza won the 50-50 prize, and Mary Freitas won the sign-in prize.

Local MOMS helping Modesto family
The Patterson chapter of the MOMS Club is raising money to help the family of Modesto MOMS Club member Jill Bettencourt, who died last week in a car accident.

So far, the local chapter has raised $150 for Bettencourt’s family.
 
The club had a booth at the Fall Family Festival to start the fundraising and now seeks donations from businesses and individuals in the community.

MOMS Club of Patterson is part of the international organization of MOMS Clubs, made up of at-home mothers who get together for social events and to raise money for community needs.

FFA students sell holiday poinsettias
Patterson FFA’s ongoing annual poinsettia fundraiser runs to the end of November.

Poinsettias are $10 each and are delivered in a 6-inch container about 14 inches tall. They will be available for pickup from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Patterson High School agriculture department, 200 N. Seventh St.
   
All proceeds will benefit FFA members by supporting attendance at FFA conferences and field days.

FFA members ask that customers pay by cash or cashier’s check only.
