Nix West Park plans

EDITOR,
A recent editorial in another local newspaper succinctly sums up why the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors should terminate its agreement with PCCP West Park to develop the former Crows Landing naval airfield.

It appears West Park officials will not be able to get needed funding for the short-haul rail portion of their project after learning that Port of Oakland officials are not interested in supporting their plan at this time. West Park developer Gerry Kamilos at one time said that if West Park failed to get the rail bond money, the county would be free to reconsider its master development choice.

It is time for the supervisors to terminate the West Park plan and start looking for a plan that will be workable.

We need to contact each of the supervisors to encourage them to take appropriate action to end the quagmire we are in and find a plan that is more acceptable to our needs.
