Local churches plan parties for the family Print E-mail

Four area churches have free Halloween parties planned Wednesday night for the whole family.
Participants are asked not to wear scary costumes. For more information, call the church phone numbers listed below.


Family Christian Center,18 S. Sixth St., 892-6721
Xtreme Impact Youth, a group for teenagers, will meet at 6 p.m. at the home of Allen and Alisha Hall. For information: 892-8727.

A Harvest Party for children ages 5 to 12 will begin at 7 p.m. at the church. There’ll be candy and games for the kids.

First Baptist Church, Del Puerto Avenue and E Street, 892-2088
First Baptist has put on “lighthouses” for Halloween for the past seven years. Church members build puppet stages in the form of lighthouses in the front yards of Patterson homes to provide entertainment for families.

The lighthouses will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 408 Red Robin Drive and 544 Traina Drive.

Trick-or-treaters, both adults and children, are welcome to stop by and enjoy the free puppet shows, mimes, music, candy, coffee and hot chocolate in a safe, family-friendly environment.

New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 1720 E. Las Palmas Ave., 892-3763
New Hope Church of the Nazarene will have its annual Harvest Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Admission is an unopened bag of candy per person. Participants can have their faces painted and enjoy games, a hay maze, candy and food.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church,

Kidz in the Spirit youth group at Sacred Heart Catholic Church will host a Halloween party from 6 to 8 p.m. at Father Connors Hall, 220 N. Salado Ave. Admission is a bag of candy per person.

Trick-or-treaters of all ages are invited to join in the fun with games and take part in a pie-eating contest.
