“People have been waiting for us for more than a year.” — Benny Enwiya Co-owner and manager, Strings Italian Café Add Italian food to the list of food offerings at Villa Del Lago. Strings Italian Café opened Oct. 3 at the retail center off Rogers Road, offering a varied menu of Italian dishes. There are 30 employees with manager Benny Enwiya on the premises seven days a week. “Business is awesome,” Enwiya said. “It’s been great — we’re doing very well.” Enwiya of Modesto owns the franchise along with Ashour Adam of Turlock and Donny Purto of Ceres. The owners wanted to locate in Patterson because it recently was among the fastest-growing cities in the nation. Strings seats 125 people on its first and second floors. The eatery serves beer and wine in addition to its full range of Italian dishes. Folks can dine in or take out. A variety of party trays are also available for pickup. Those who are interested should give a few days notice with the party tray order. The restaurant also offers catering services, and folks can reserve the upstairs room for banquets. It has a select menu for banquets and parties of 15 or more people. Though Strings has the same menu items all day long, dinner prices are generally a couple of dollars more per dish than at lunch time. On Sundays and Mondays, children under age 10 eat free when ordering from the kids menu after 4 p.m. with each adult entrée purchase. Every Wednesday after 4 p.m. there is all-you-can-eat pasta for $7.99 per entrée for each person in the group. Soon, Strings will have lunch and dinner specials, including sandwiches with a side salad or side soup and chef’s specials. Enwiya said he has enjoyed meeting Patterson folks who have been patronizing the restaurant. “Patterson has been very good to us,” he said. He’s also impressed with the surrounding business owners and their support. Enwiya came to know the owners of El Rosal and Lamppost Pizza while Strings was under construction. “I believe we all help out one another,” Enwiya said. “This is a central food hub. People have been waiting for us for more than a year.” Strings winter hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. In the summer, Strings closes one hour later each day. The restaurant is at 2985 Renzo Lane. For information: 895-4655.
