He also shoots wedding parties, quinceañeras and engagements. For a Saturday studio sitting, folks can call a week before. He also takes walk-ins. The wait for sushi is over Golden Lion Chinese Restaurant, previously at Highway 33 and C Street, opened a new site May 8 in the Villa Del Lago retail area off Rogers Road. Since then, owners Collin Lee and Diane Jin have served Chinese dishes for lunch and dinner. They added Hawaiian barbecue to their offerings some time ago and a couple of weeks ago debuted a much-anticipated sushi menu. The front part of the restaurant serves sushi created by Chef John Zhu, originally from China, who traveled to the West Side by way of New York and Florida. Along the way, he spent years in New York and Massachusetts. He studied with sushi masters and recently completed sushi school in San Francisco. Zhu met Lee in San Francisco. He accepted the job the first week of October to prepare for the Oct. 10 opening. “We have high-quality seafood we pick up in San Francisco,” Zhu said. “We do whatever we can to provide our Patterson customers with the best quality seafood and sauces.” He said he has high hopes for the sushi portion of the restaurant. “To me, it’s a lifetime mission to have a real Japanese cuisine and sushi be introduced to the American people,” Zhu said. “Just like everything else, we try our very best.” The front part of the restaurant, where the sushi is served, is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and is closed Monday. The Chinese restaurant part of the business is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. seven days a week. Lee and Jin will have a grand opening for the entire business in November, with the time and date to be announced. Golden Lion is at 15026 Carmen Way. For information: 892-8328.
