Like a well-oiled machine, the Patterson High freshman football team found out what it meant to be clicking on all cylinders. All facets of the Patterson arsenal, including its offense, defense and ball handling, factored prominently into the Tigers’ 55-6 win over Turlock’s freshman ‘B’ squad Wednesday night in Turlock. Brandon Bales rushed for two touchdowns, and Joey Powers and Jimmy Guerrero each returned fumble recoveries for touchdowns, as Patterson led 34-0 at halftime. “Everything we did was working,” Patterson coach Kenny Durham said. “From defense to special teams, everything was working.” Durham was able to rest his starters in the second half, including quarterback Cody Weinzheimer. His backup, quarterback Evan Clark, was able to drive Patterson down the field twice in the second half. “We brought in all the reserves in the second half,” Durham said. “Even our second team offensive line did pretty good.” For the second-straight week, Patterson recorded more than 350 yards rushing. This time around, however, the Tigers took care of the ball and had just one turnover. “Overall, it was a total team effort,” Durham said. “From the first guy to the 32nd guy, everyone contributed.” Patterson (3-2) hosts Big Valley Christian of Modesto Wednesday at 6 p.m. We want to hear what you have to say.
