25 years ago — Oct. 7, 1982
Foxy Loxy, Patterson’s live-in creature of the wild, who apparently makes his home on North Sixth Street, is showing signs of becoming an indoor pet. Edna Patterson, whose husband, Jack, is the son of our town’s founder, was seated in her living room on North Sixth when she spotted a bushy tail going past her kitchen refrigerator. It was Foxy Loxy, who had entered through an open garage door and exited through an open back door. “He just walked in and out without any problem,” Edna told this newspaper.

A Pasadena man, Richard Kelly, is the new pastor of Patterson Covenant Church, succeeding Bob Hirsch.

The life of Pattersonite Dorothy Harrison, longtime civic activist, is being featured in The Gateway, a publication of the Patterson Township Historical Society.

50 years ago — Oct. 3, 1957
Arriving this week in Patterson was Karl Gorz, an American Field Service student from Vienna who will live for the school year with the Don Crooker family. He is an accomplished violinist who wants to become a medical doctor.

Five carloads of lettuce were shipped this week by the West Side Cooling Co. The lettuce season is expected to peak around mid-October. Other new field crops here are turnips and mustard greens.
Perez Bros. of Crows Landing is using a continuous belt loader for its 220 acres of bell peppers.

Mimi Bevis is the new president of Senior Girl Scouts Troop 125.

Doyle McElhern scored on a 91-yard run and Don Richardson tallied three times as Patterson Tigers dumped Hughson 41-7 for their second straight win.

With Chet’s Ambulance no longer in service, the Del Puerto Hospital board is seeking ways to provide the emergency service in the Patterson area.

75 years ago — Oct. 7, 1932
William McAdoo, Democratic Party candidate for the U.S. Senate, will speak here Monday afternoon in front of the Hotel Del Puerto.

All-Star softball teams from Patterson and Newman will play here Tuesday. The local lineup will include Wade Cripe, Ossie Ball, VerDayne and DeVere Williams, Lloyd Bowman and others.

About 35 caps totaling $17.50 have been purchased for the new traffic patrol students by the 20-30 Club.
