Students pass AP Spanish language, literature tests

Ninety percent of Patterson High School students who took the Advanced Placement Spanish language test and 90 percent of those who took the Advanced Placement Spanish literature exam last spring passed those tests.

Students who go on to college — a four-year state university or a junior college — get college credit for the scores on these tests. Every university and college is different, but students should be able to start the college year with some units already accomplished — and also paid.

PHS Spanish teacher Mary Solorio-Brandt said if a student is going out into the world of work, taking and passing the nationally recognized exam gives the employer the advantage of having a bilingual person who is prepared in Spanish.
