Eager for the start of the Patterson High wrestling season, fans packed the gymnasium Tuesday for the annual Crimson and Gray scrimmage.

The varsity and junior varsity teams were introduced to the crowd before competing in the split-squad scrimmage.

The Tigers will be young and numerous this year. Between 60 and 80 wrestlers are expected to come out, mostly underclassmen.

“We’re young,” coach Lee Scoles said. “We have a lot of freshmen and sophomores, a few juniors and a small group of seniors.

“We have quite a few good wrestlers. I think we can get a lot to sections. They’re a good group of kids, and the team does a good job of leading each other.”

Patterson begins the season on the road at the Dos Palos Invitational on Friday.
