The season ended for the Patterson High junior varsity cross country boys and girls teams Saturday at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III meet in Folsom.

Despite some difficulty adjusting to the warm weather, coach Dave Klein said he was pleased with the team’s performance.

“I just know that we gave 100 percent, which is all that I can ask for,” Klein said. “Everyone medaled, which was great, and it was a fantastic year filled with a whole lot of ups and just a handful of downs.”

The JV girls team wrapped up an impressive campaign with a second-place showing Saturday. Meghan Wraa’s time of 15 minutes, one second was enough for fifth place overall in the 2-mile race. Teammates Blanca Maldonado (15:08), Tessa Gonzales (15:21), Marisabel Carrillo (15:37), Maritza Vega (15:46) and Laura Thompson (18:22) also fared well.

Jack Relva was the lone representative from Patterson’s JV boys team. Relva finished the 2-mile race with a time of 12:39, earning him a fourth-place finish overall.

“This group of athletes should be very proud of themselves,” Klein said. “As a coach, I had a lot of fun with some fantastic memories.”
