25 years ago — Nov. 17, 1983
Stanislaus County officials are proposing to expand the Fink Road landfill from 42 acres to 210 acres rather than expanding the county’s landfill on Geer Road.

The City Council is considering a 5 percent wage hike for city employees and thus has delayed approving its 1983-84 budget. The budget is expected to total about $1.68 million.

Patterson High landed three players on the all-league football team. They are senior Marc Lovato and juniors Sammy DeLaRosa and Mike Burch.

Julie Noah is spending six months in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, as an AFS student.

Members of this year’s high school Academic Decathlon team are Sheri Yamaichi, Esequiel Solorio, Ed Gonzalez, Molly Black, Lazaro Navarro, Anne Vizzolini, Kathy Housewright, Elizabeth Scheel, Robert Ochoa and Nancy Silva.

50 years ago — Nov. 13, 1958
The California Board of Education has approved putting the union of three West Side high schools on the ballot for the public to decide. If approved, the Patterson, Newman and Gustine high school districts would become one.

Elected to the board of directors of the Patterson-Westley Chamber of Commerce are John Ielmini, Bill Lewis, C.C. Bessey, Al Loumena and George Tiura.

Jay Olson and Don Richardson are the co-captains of the 1958 Patterson High football team.

75 years ago — Nov. 17, 1933
It isn’t yet official, but the city might receive $500 in federal relief funds to be used for street repair.

Patterson stomped on Hilmar 33-0 in the final football game of the season, finishing second with a 5-1 league record behind Hughson (6-0). The Huskies won the title by beating Ceres 7-0 with a score in the final two minutes.

Dave Fleming hauled a 30-pound striped bass from the San Joaquin River. It measured 41 inches.

Men’s black leather coats were selling for $6.90 this week at the Patterson J.C. Penney’s store.
