Patterson school board considers how to share facilities with city Print E-mail

At a glance
  • WHAT: Patterson Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees meeting
  • WHEN: 7 p.m. Monday
  • WHERE: District Office, 510 Keystone Blvd.

The Patterson Joint Unified School District will consider expanding the Patterson Parks and Recreation Commission from five people to seven at its Monday meeting.

Commissioners serve as advisors to both the Patterson City Council and the school board. The council had requested the expansion after receiving numerous applicants to fill some vacancies on the commission. After having to turn down people they believed were otherwised qualified, council members decided to expand most of their advisory bodies.

Because the parks commission serves both agencies, its expansion requires both board and council approval. Under the new proposal, the board and the council would each appoint three commission members, and there would be one “member-at-large.”
