Testimony in the trial accusing Kenneth Easily of trying to kill a Patterson teen begins Monday at Stanislaus County Superior Court in Modesto. The district attorney is charging Easily with the shooting of Kris Moon during the early morning hours of May 6, 2006, during a house party in Newman. Easily, who hails from Antioch, was 19 at the time of the shooting. Moon was 18. Moon lost the use of his legs because of the two bullets that entered his body. He is expected to take the stand Monday to testify. Back in 2006, Newman police reported Easily and several other men had crashed a party in Newman after not finding a party they were looking for in Patterson. The Newman partygoers were unfamiliar with the out-of-town teens, and eventually a dispute ensued between one of the men and a woman at the party. Police reported that Moon told the men to leave. The men then went back to their car and got a handgun. Shots were then fired toward the crowd gathered close to the party on the 1300 block of Crabapple Way. It is unclear if anyone in particular was targeted, police said. The shots that struck Moon were fired from at least 100 feet away, police said. Police arrested Easily and several other men shortly after the incident. On Monday, more than two years after the shooting that took place, Moon will get his chance to tell the court his story.
