Grapettes softball tryouts Softball players can take part in tryouts this month for the fall and summer California Grapettes travel teams. The 12-and-under team will have tryouts Sunday, Aug. 17 and 24 at the Lodi Complex, Field No. 2, at 9 a.m. For information: Laura at 985-2573; or Sarah 596-5250. The 14-and-under team will have tryouts Sunday, Aug. 16, 17, 23 and 24 at the Lodi Complex, Field No. 1, at 9 a.m. For information: Cat, 408-431-6559; or Dennis, 351-1680. The 18-and-under Gold Team will have tryouts Aug. 16, 17, 23 and 24 at the Lodi Complex, Field No. 1, at noon. For information: Dennis at 351-1680. Intro to PHS fall sports The Patterson High athletic department will host a meeting in the gymnasium at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12 for all athletes interested in participating in fall sports. Those interested in football, boys soccer, volleyball, girls golf, cross country and cheerleading should attend. Coaches will individually discuss their programs and go over school rules. Parents are welcome. Patterson High will also offer sports physicals at the gymnasium at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 13. Physicals will be provided by Turlock Urgent Care and will cost $15. Five dollars from each physical will directly support Patterson High athletics. All athletes — boys and girls — will need a physical to participate in any of the school’s athletic programs. Physicals are good for the entire school year.
