Council could reject term-limit initiative Print E-mail

At a glance
  • WHAT: City Council meeting
  • WHEN: 6 p.m. Tuesday (one hour earlier than normal)
  • WHERE: Council Chambers, City Hall, 1 Plaza Circle

Patterson City Council will decide Tuesday if a term-limit initiative should make it to the November ballot.

Patterson’s city attorney, George Logan, said in a letter to the council that the initiative should be rejected because the proper procedures to get it on the ballot were not followed. Specifically, notice of the initiative had not been posted in the Irrigator.

“I have reviewed the petition and found it to be defective because the preliminary notice was published in the wrong paper,” Logan said in the letter.

Petition organizer Donna Worley published the notice in the Modesto Bee. In the past, Worley has said Logan is trying to block her initiative even though it should legally appear on the next ballot.

If voters approve the initiative, it would limit Patterson council members to two four-year terms and the mayor to two two-year terms.

Now, council members can serve until they are voted out.

The council is also scheduled to review comments from Worley at Tuesday’s meeting.

It just goes to show that Scientology and Far-Right Wing Activism (ala Spence and Andal) attracts weak minded fools. Pack up the side show Donna. Pay your delinquent Private Investigator License Fees, Say Hi to Christi Losh and move on to your next set of victims. smilies/shocked.gif
