25 years ago — Sept. 9, 1982 Cable TV rates will increase from $8 to $9.95 a month after the Patterson City Council this week voted 4-1 to approve the hike at the request of service provider Televents of San Joaquin. Councilman Tom Klein cast the vote against the proposal. Local Boy Scouts earned rank advancement this week. They are David Carpenter, Chris Dennis, Roy Haile, Jason Thomas and Jason Babb. 50 years ago — Sept. 5, 1957 High school enrollment totaled 354 this week, up from 348 from a year ago. New Patterson High School teachers this year are Doloris Pope, homemaking, English and typing; basketball coach James Enochs; and Francis Vaughan, English and remedial reading. Gary Kirk, son of the Melvin Kirk family, is now an Eagle Scout after passing his board of review in Gustine. 75 years ago — Sept. 9, 1932 An even 200 students enrolled this week at Patterson High, down from 218 last year in the first week of the school term.
