The candidate nomination period for the Del Puerto Health Care District Board ends Aug. 8 for both incumbents and challengers. The terms of board members Ed Maring and Jeannette Kessler will end in December. As of press time, both had taken out candidacy forms but had not turned them in to the Stanislaus County elections office. Challenger Anne Stokman of Patterson has submitted her candidacy form to run for a four-year seat. Stokman, a registered nurse, has worked in the health field more than 25 years. A potential candidate must be a registered voter in the health care district to run for office. Del Puerto Health Care District aims to increase health care service for the West Side. The district runs Del Puerto Health Center and Patterson District Ambulance Co. Candidacy forms can be picked up at the health care district office, 875 E St., or the county elections office, 1021 I St., Ste. 101, in Modesto. Forms should be returned by mail or in person to the board of elections office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
