Tapestry opened the show, a one-man band from Modesto, followed by the wizard-rock group Hallows and Horcruxes, which performs Harry Potter-inspired songs. Tippy the Vegan, a 17-year-old from Merced who sings while playing her ukulele, then took the stage, followed by more ukulele songs by Charlie Don’t Surf and music from the Patterson-based indie rock band the Panduhs. The Corner Laughers from San Francisco played last, headlining the show with their melodic brand of power pop. “I like playing here — it’s fun,” Panduhs band member Frank Montez said. “I wasn’t expecting much, but it was a good turnout.” ![]() The Corner Laughers perform their set while artisans sell beads and artwork in the foreground. I get shaky and feel like I can’t breathe.” Tippy the Vegan, who played at the Hellapop festival at Montez’s home in rural Patterson in late May, said it was her first show in Patterson itself. “I didn’t even know there were shows here,” she said. Beside the live music, there were opportunities to buy one-of-a-kind art, handmade jewelry, unique clothing and accessories from seven vendor stands at the Teen Center. Hot dogs and iced coffee were sold to raise money for the Youth Action Commission, a group of Patterson teens who aim to provide programming for the community. Claude Cardenas of Patterson worked as the band coordinator, and Jason Hayward, who works for the city’s recreation department, was the overall coordinator. “We’re aiming for a total of three shows during the summer,” Hayward said, “The next show will be held during August.”’ Comments
