Council could pick senior center builder

At a glance WHAT: City Council meeting WHEN: 7 p.m. Tuesday WHERE: Council chambers, City Hall, 1 Plaza City officials have planned to build a senior center at Las Palmas and Ward avenues for many years. On Tuesday, the City Council might be ready to pick the company that will make it a reality. The city has received 10 bids to build the center. Modesto-based Titan Structures presented the low bid with $3.12 million. The highest bid came in at more than $4.4 million. However, two of the 10 companies have sent letters to the city protesting the method used to select the bids. The council will address the protests before awarding a bid. In other council matters The council will discuss fees for a one-day business license. The council will review a plan for building safe walking routes for school children.
