A new store offers clothing with household brand names and more in downtown Patterson. Maddy Houk / Taking Care of Business Kobanz, opened Tuesday in a new building at 205 S. El Circulo, Ste. H, next to La Perla Tapatia. That building was constructed by longtime resident Wayland Wong whose family has owned many businesses in town throughout the years. Kobanz offers goods for the whole family, and store manager Bridget Chukwura and her daughter, Joy Eki-Edo, helped a long line of customers Wednesday morning. The name “Kobanz” comes from the initials of the family members who own the store, Chukwura explained. The 2,300-square-foot store stocks brand name clothing for men, women and children, as well as accessories, cosmetics and household goods. Purses and fragrances also line the shelves. Housewares, bedding and gifts such as crystal, dishes and silverware are in stock, with more expected to be delivered soon. Shipments arrive weekly, Chukwura said. “We have party clothes, suits for the office, men’s suits and men’s casual, and everything is brand new,” Chukwura said. Chukwura and her family moved to Patterson a year ago from Sacramento. “When we came to Patterson, we saw that Patterson needed a store like ours,” Chukwura said. “A store with department-store brands,” Joy Eki-Edo added. The clothes in stock fit a variety of sizes. “We invite customers to come in and see what we have,” Chukwura said. Kobanz is open from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For information: 892-1110.
