ImageMama’s and Me members parade around Plaza Circle during Patterson’s downtown Fourth of July Celebration. Events kicked off Friday morning with an opening ceremony followed by a parade and old-fashioned fun, food and contests. Patterson’s Matthew Harr, 13, gets some air during the skate competition between North and South Parks.

Irma Hupe and her 5-year-old daughter, Kaya Durazo, check out a patriotic hat they made Wednesday at Patterson Branch Library, while others try theirs on. Librarian Kelly Thompson showed children and families how to make hats out of newspaper, glue, construction paper and feathers.
